Apparently Quentin Tarantino was making a film
against the trend. Although the film is supposed to represent
the character of Django, but not fully in same color. First Django character is black, and very American. When you look at the original Django, of course, his character is a white
man and was known as the Italian-made cowboy movies or spaghetti cowboy. Apart from that Tarantino makes a much different story. Tarantino's Django version is the former slaves were freed by Dr. King Schultz. Schultz is known as a dentist in this
area, but his true identity is professional bounty hunter. Schultz did not give a free-freedom to Django.
Django is the only person who ever saw Brittle
Brothers. Schultz asked as a favor to Django to find
and kill the gang. Schultz also promised to help Django to
free his wife from the hands of a Francophile Broomhilda Calvin Candie. Candie is a slave owner of Candyland where men were trained as gladiators
and slaves women become prostitutes.
Review:
from the above synopsis, that comes to my mind is an American action movie
that is very Hollywood. Usually filled with scenes of gunplay and
explosions are super Animashaun. But after watching the
movie, I thought it turned out very wrong. The Django Unchained is
a very riveting drama with brilliant acting quality of the players. Especially the cast of Django (Jamie Foxx), Dr. King Schultz (Don Johnson) and Francophile Calvin Candie (Leonardo Di
Caprio).
I really enjoyed the very brilliant dialogues of the players throughout the
film. Despite the scenes of sadistic-realist films scattered
in every time, which I think is a Tarantino specialty in his films (remember
Kill Bill volumes 1, 2 and 3?).
There is an interesting scene tickled my mind, that is, when Calvin Candie
landowner who had hundreds of slave invite Dr. Schultz-anti slavery
doctor- for dinner at one of his palatial home. Candie explains that the
cerebellum of the whites is used for intelligence and creativity. While the cerebellum of the black, turned out to have different functions. This part of the brain serves as: Sense of Loyality, Serve and Fear.
Apparently it is the humans habit to find a
justification of every action that is contrary to conscience .......
